Format
We can accept your master on several formats altho CD-R is most common.
CD-R or Compact Disc (CD)
DAT, open reel tape.
DVD or DLT for DVD replication
ISRC Codes / CD Text / UPC Code
If you want International Standard Recording Codes (ISRC), CD text, or UPC Code on your final CD, you must include them on your CD master. This typically done in a mastering facility like our Purple Mastering.
Track Sheet
The master must have a detailed track sheet including the artist name, name of album, track names, for CD text, timings, UPC, & ISRC codes) where applicable. You can download one here.
CD-R MASTER INSTRUCTIONS
If you use a home CD Burner please be aware that sometimes uncorrectable errors occur
due to the instability of the laser mechanism. IT MAY PLAY BACK OK ON SOME
DECKS, BUT STILL HAVE A HIGH ERROR RATE. This is called BLER or Block
Error Rate. Cheap burners have a high amount of BLER and you may get CD's replicated with this error built in. That may result in mutes or skipping upon playback. And above all, DON'T use CRAPPY NoName-O discs! The safe thing to do is to have us re burn or master your CD-R with our precision machinery. We have had a 100% sucess rate in making perfect replications this way. Its cheap insurance.! Also you may not have burned your CD using the appropriate Red Book Standard programs. PQ codes are necessary too! If you are sloppy or have never prepared a Production Master CD before,we recommend you let us help!
DAT MASTER INSTRUCTIONS
Tell us your maximum level and exactly where it occurs on the DAT.
Make sure your DAT machine is in "auto program number" indexing mode and is
recording ABSOLUTE TIME.
List START and STOP times for each side.
Start side one at 1:00 minute absolute time.
List total program times& length of each song.
Leave 2-3 minutes between sides.
Label your tape with your NAME & phone number.
Keep in mind we do digital safetys & digital editing of DAT.
If your DAT isn't properly formatted to DAT specifications, additional charges may be
incurred.
If your master needs a little tweeking before mass production, we offer digital mastering& editing
ANALOG REEL MASTER INSTRUCTIONS
1/4", 1/2 Track @ 30, 15 OR 7.5 i.p.s. : ( Dolby SR, Dolby A, or dbx TYPE 1.req uire
additional rental charges)
It should be wound TAILS OUT.
Record tones at head of Side A reel at your 0 V.U. level. Include 1 KHZ, 10 KHZ, 100
HZ , & DOLBY TONE, or 1 K TONE using dbx.
Include plenty of leader tape before & after your program.
PLEASE MARK YOUR REELS WITH THIS INFO: 1) Total length of each side; 2)
TAPE SPEED; 3)Type of NOISE REDUCTION or "none"; 4) SIDE A or B; 5)Tails out
or Head out; 6)Tones location & level.
Label your tape with your NAME & phone number.
CASSETTE MASTER INSTRUCTIONS
Please record SIDE A on one side & SIDE B on the other.
Run at least 5 seconds of leader before recording program.
We recommend using METAL or CHROME tape, and use DOLBY B, or
DOLBY C. Indicate if you have used DOLBY B or C in writing on the tape!
Accurate timing is a must! List total time of each side on cassette.
Label your tape with your NAME & phone number.
